“The good: Western Bat Specialists completed the work in a timely manner. The bad: You will pay dearly for their services. I should have gotten other quotes and that’s on me but this company charged us $5,850 for some stucco clean up and repair, hanging netting on our front porch, sealing off the fascia around our roof, bat exclusion on the back porch where the bats were roosting and 1 bat house. It took their crew of three guys a total of 8.5 hours onsite. Their prices are up there with what a highly-skilled contractor would charge, and it doesn’t take much skill to do their work. It's more labor intensive than specialized and any DIYer can do it if they learned some of the trade secrets such as disinfecting any areas that bats have been hanging out with hospital-grade cleaner to take the bat scent away and deter them from coming back to it. And using a foam-like tape to insert into eves or fascia to seal it off. Their bat exclusion devices are made from hardware cloth folded over. The finished edge allows bats to leave your roof and the cut edge deters them from coming back in because they don’t want to get poked from the bare wires. Unfortunately we will not know how effective their work is until the bats start coming back in late spring. In Rebekah's response to this review she says I wrote multiple emails threatening bad reviews and put a lot of pressure on her to coerce her into free work. She also claims I kept arbitrarily adding on more things. These are extreme exaggerations. Email #1: I said I didn’t feel we were getting good value (25.5 man hrs. for almost $6k!!!) and asked if she could include some work that should have been on the initial work order, such as fixing a small amount of stucco on the back porch. I said if not, my dissatisfaction would be reflected in my review. Email #1 response: She said I had to pay for any additional work and didn't appreciate that I was threatening to write a bad review if she didn't give me free work. She stated that there was much more involved than time spent working onsite such as training, job prep, commute time, cost of the work truck, gas, insurance. She went on to tell me how dangerous the job is due to diseases from bats. Oh really? There was bat guano up in the corners of the front porch so why weren't any of the guys wearing masks, safety goggles and gloves while stripping it out if it’s that dangerous? Email #2: After she explained that the stucco was too much work I then asked if she could at least sanitize the front porch where the crew had just removed lots of bat urine and poop. This really should have been included in their overall service and it probably would have taken her crew a half hour to do and it would have made me happy. I also told her I didn't appreciate her trying to guilt me for wanting "free" work. What I meant by that (because I had the word "free" in quotes) is that she tried to make me feel guilty for wanting more value for my money. Email #2 response: She flat out refused the sanitizing of the front porch and then she started attacking my character. She said (exact quotes): “I understand you are unhappy, and this appears to be how you respond when you do not get what you want.” She went on to say: "In my view, I could see you doing this when you go into get an oil change and then becoming upset that the shop did not rotate your tires or perform a smog inspection, change your spark plugs, because you don't like the price and feel More should be included." Email #3: I told her that I would include her quotes in my review and to have a nice life. I was obviously getting nowhere and was done with her rudeness. Check out her responses on Yelp to customers who are dissatisfied. She makes threats just like she did to me in her response when she says "We are taking the steps to report this as fraud and coercion." Ask yourself, do you really want to work with a company that has a person like this handling customers? I wish I would've read those Yelp reviews before I hired this company. I certainly would have looked elsewhere.”
