Reliability
Pro
Western Pest Services has a QualityPro Certification, which is rare and a high accolade within the pest control industry.
Con
While Western does not operate nationwide, its locations are generously spread throughout New Jersey and the New York City and Philadelphia metro areas. It also has locations in Delaware, Connecticut and other parts Pennsylvania. On the other hand, this geographic concentration, combined with Rollins-subsidized training, well positions them as experts on area pest issues.

Features & Services Provided

Here are some of the highlights of Western Pest Services’ offerings:
- Green pest control. Western Pest Services offers green pest control options and is trained in Integrated Pest Management (IPM) system. Like other Rollins subsidiaries, Western Pest Services benefits from the state-of-the-art Rollins Learning Center in Atlanta. This, combined with Western’s QualityPro certification, means their pest control technicians are trained to the highest industry standard.
- Home Protection Plan. The company’s Home Protection Plan (HPP) covers a large number of pests common to the region it serves. The package includes seasonal visits and free emergency visits in between scheduled visits. The Home Protection Plan Plus (HPP+) adds carpenter ant protection. Both plans come with a satisfaction guarantee that allows for the refund of the annual fee.
- Online presence. One edge the company has over its competitors is its online presence. While it’s common for technicians and company websites to offer pest control tips and even comprehensive resources, Western’s website contains sizable photos to help customers identify pests. This makes it much easier to communicate with customer service agents and technicians from inquiry to service time.
- Free inspections and guarantee. Another added benefit is the company offers free inspections. It also offers a satisfaction guarantee – which means you don’t pay until you are completely satisfied with the service you receive.
Customer Support & Reviews
While a few people have had bad experiences with Western, others have left very detailed descriptions of the company’s merits. Overall, reviews praise Western’s representatives as friendly, proactive, happy to answer questions, and effective at their jobs.
Complaints about customer service don’t appear to be as common with Western as with other pest control companies. Western utilizes ServicePro, a business software that manages customer service lines. This does its job streamlining customer requests, and there are rarely reports of the no-call/no-show issues common in the pest control industry.
Pro
Con
Some reviews stated Western wasn’t successful in their initial treatment and needed to continue returning to their home.
Customers reported that their technicians were on time, knowledgeable, and personable. Techs typically phone ahead of the appointment to confirm or to warn customers if they are running late. Reviewers appreciated being walked through the process, briefed on what pest activity to expect after a visit, and having infestation evidence pointed out to them. In addition, there were very few situations noted in which Western needed to come to the house for a re-treatment. By and large, “thorough” was one of the most common words used to describe Western Pest Services.
Cost
Pro
Con
Western offers free in-home inspection, which controls the final cost. Western also offers a satisfaction guarantee where it will re-treat until the issue is resolved.
Western offers free follow-up inspections and re-treatments on their annual service plan. These free follow ups are standard across the industry and are important protections for consumers in case a treatment fails or is not entirely effective. Some smaller companies out there do not offer these protections and we would advise staying away from anyone that does not back up their service.
While a yearly contract is not required, in theory, it may be difficult in practice to resolve problems with a single service. However, both HPP and HPP+ protection plans include a satisfaction guarantee which refunds the annual fee if the pest issue is not resolved. While this doesn’t afford consumers the ideal amount of freedom, it protects their interests better than an unconditionally required contract.
Conclusion
Western Pest Services has received glowing remarks from customers in regard to their experience with service, as well as technicians. While it offers a comprehensive catalog of services to treat a variety of pests, its pricing structure may deny customers the flexibility they’d prefer in dealing with their household pests.
