“While renovating my older home, I needed to update the termite bonds in order to receive my certificate of occupancy. I explained this situation clearly to the salesperson, Brian, and that the termite bonds were simply something I needed installed in order to meet the requirement. At the same time, my crawlspace was being fully encapsulated, so I knew I would not need ongoing pest service. I was very transparent upfront and told Brian that I would be canceling the service right away after the bonds were installed because I did not need an additional $50/month expense. Unfortunately, I trusted that Brian had my best interests in mind and did not carefully review the fine print of the contract. What I later found out is that the agreement I signed requires a 12-month commitment. When I contacted them and even offered to have them come remove the termite bonds and cancel the service, I was told that I still have to pay the full 12 months regardless. I have since spoken with two managers, and both simply told me there is nothing they can do. I even volunteered to have them come pick up the termite bonds and cancel the agreement entirely, which seems like it should be a very easy solution. Instead, they have chosen not to work with me at all. Now I am being forced to pay $50 per month for an entire year for a service I was very clear I did not need. While I take responsibility for not reading the contract thoroughly, it is disappointing that the salesperson did not disclose such an important detail when I specifically told him my plan to cancel immediately. This situation feels misleading and leaves a bad impression. I would strongly encourage others to read every detail of the contract before signing and be cautious about what is verbally promised versus what is written.”
