“I have a rental property in Banner Elk that potentially had bed bugs and needed to have the property inspected and treated quickly since the property is occupied and they have small child. I got an apt for inspection right away and Bryan came out quickly. He was very professional and thorough. I really liked him and thought that the rest of the process would be like this, and be a great experience. Unfortunately, it was all downhill from there. Bryan said it would probably take about a week to get someone out. After two days, without hearing anything about a treatment appointment, I called left a message with a representative, heard nothing. I called back again the following day, and asked to speak with the scheduling department, but they won’t allow you to speak with the scheduling department. I contacted Bryan , and he said he would leave a message with management and have someone call me and let them know it was urgent because we had a small child in the property. After waiting a week at this point, and still not hearing anything back, I attempted to call a representative, once again, and still could only leave a message and not speak with the scheduling department. The following day I heard from Bryan, the inspector, and he said that a Matt would be calling me that day to schedule an appointment, and that has been another week since that happened and I’ve still heard nothing. It has now been over two weeks since the inspection, and I still haven’t gotten an appointment scheduled for treatment. If this is how they conduct business, I don’t know how they will continue to be in business. I have already contacted a local company and they’ve come out for the inspection and treatment in less than a week. If you’re in need of pest control, do yourself a favor and call A-1 Pest Control. They are a locally, family owned business and provide a thorough and professional service at a very reasonable price. They charged half the price of Bug Out, and actually got my property treated without a hassle!”

“If you’re battling a bedbug infestation, you may be wondering if you should use a pest control service to get rid of them. Let me tell you why you should not, as per my experience: We called McNeely’s, now known as Bug Out, to eradicate our bed bugs via a heat treat on the house. We thought they might be able to handle it as a smaller, local company. Turns out they are owned by the same UK ?? company as Terminex. They charge by the square foot, so for our 1150 square foot home, that’s $3600. By the way, if you haven’t paid them in a month, whether your bugs are gone or not, they’ll charge you $50 each month thereafter. We had 2 heat treats, neither of which did any good. We could feel bites within 24 hours of both heat treats. When I asked how they treated the couch, they said they don’t treat any furniture. FYI, if they’re not going to treat your furniture, they aren’t going to get rid of the bugs. They use only a perimeter treat of Crossfire and heat treat. On top of that, one of the technicians broke our window. Though McNeely’s said their insurance would take care of it, we have yet to hear from them or have had them return our calls, and it’s been 5 months. My suggestion is for you to do it yourself. Watch Green Akers Pest Control Channel on YouTube. Get some Cimexa and Crossfire which is what McNeely’s uses (but be careful and use as directed). Do it yourself, and save thousands. They can’t/won’t help you anyway. Don’t get scammed like we did. Edited to say: This lovely reply from the owner has, unsurprisingly, not been followed through on. They have not reached out to me at all. I’ll edit again if that changes or if they pay for the damages they caused.”
