“Chaotic crooks. Moved into house four months ago. Had a highly trusted, very thorough home inspector check everything with special attention to HVAC, and then had Community Mechanical come out to do service and full inspection a month later. Both parties reported HVAC system was in great shape. Had a smell coming from the HVAC after the winter storm & Berrett said for $10/mo they’d do free service calls to check it out and do two inspections a year. So had them come out to inspect the system and find the source of the smell. Berrett then proceeds to send me a write up that I need $7k worth of HVAC work ***emphasis the just four months prior, two separate inspectors said $0. Berrett says $7k*** Then, the tech found the source of the smell. A dead mouse by the unit in the crawl space. He told my friend who I had at the house while I was at work. It was assumed that he fixed the issue. Next day, smell is still present. I go into crawl space—find the mouse. So the Tech identified the issue he was called out for. He then did not fix it and even more maddeningly, did not tell us that he did not fix it. He just took a pic and walked out, then sent a $7k write up of bogus work required (that did not even include dead mouse removal). Scheduling—had an 8a-10a appointment window. After no one showing up, I call at 9:45a to check the status. They said they had had an emergency call in the early morning that was going long so they were not and never would have made it. I asked if they knew at the start of the day that there was no way they would make it, why wouldn’t they call or text me at 7:30. She claimed it’s illegal for them to contact me before 8:30. (Lies, again)I asked then why wouldn’t you call at 8:30, when she clearly knew she have no intention of showing up? Met with silence. Reschedules to a later afternoon slot. Again, 15 minutes before they bust their two hour window, I call and check. Told they will not make it. Then they say they’ll be there at the last slot of day. Welp…no one shows up. And at the end of the day, they finally come clean they no one is going to show up for the appointment and ask to schedule for the following day. Absolutely maddening. Five stars though for flippancy towards the customer. My standard test for home service companies: would I trust them to service my mom’s home? With full conviction I’d answer “absolutely not, never. Run as far and as fast from this outfit as possible.””
